BuzzIt
- A Telephone Signaling Device|
The BuzzIt is a line powered alerting device intended for use where there are multiple telephones connected to a single telephone line. When all telephones on the line are on-hook, the BuzzIt is dormant, drawing less than 10 : A from the telephone line. When any instrument on the line goes off-hook, the voltage change is noted by the BuzzIt which wakes up and begins monitoring for preset DTMF code. When the BuzzIt recognizes its preset DTMF digit code it will buzz.The DTMF trigger code is set via jumpers within the device. The beeps are programmable for �Slow� or �Fast� via jumper settings. The duration of the beeps is approximately two seconds. The intended function of this device is to be able to alert another extension on the same line that there is an incoming call for that extension. If �Tom� answers the phone and it is for �Bill�, �Tom� can alert �Bill� to the call by dialing �Bill�s� BuzzIt code. When the BuzzIt recognizes its preset DTMF digit code it will beep. When �Bill� hears the BuzzIt�s beep, he can pick up the phone and take the call. Any BuzzIt on that same line can be addressed in the same manner. A BuzzIt is required at each location which is to be served. It does not require telephone equipment to be plugged into it to operate. The BuzzIt is a relatively small device, approximately 3x2x1 inch with two RJ11 telephone jacks, one to the line and the other to the telephone instrument. In an OEM version, as a module, the BuzzIt can be simply integrated into a Telephone by telephone manufacturers. The BuzzIt complies with or exceeds all the applicable requirements of FCC part 68 and Industry Canada CS-03, issue 8.
